California AB1200 Information
California AB 1200 Cookware Disclosure
California Assembly Bill No. 1200
ChefStead is committed to product transparency and compliance with laws applicable to our cookware.
California Assembly Bill No. 1200 (“AB 1200”), codified in California Health and Safety Code Sections 109010–109014, requires manufacturers of cookware sold in California to disclose certain intentionally added chemicals that:
-
Are present in a cookware handle or a surface that comes into contact with food, foodstuffs, or beverages; and
-
Appear on the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (“DTSC”) Candidate Chemicals List.
An “intentionally added chemical” is a chemical added to a product that has a functional or technical effect in the product.
The presence of a chemical on the DTSC Candidate Chemicals List does not necessarily mean that the product is unsafe or that exposure will occur during normal use. Many commonly used metals, including elements used to produce stainless steel, are included on one or more of California’s designated authoritative lists.
Covered ChefStead Products
The following disclosure applies to:
| Product category | Covered products |
|---|---|
| ChefStead Titanium Cookware | ChefStead 12-Inch Titanium-Clad Frying Pan with Stainless Steel Lid, including all finishes, variants, and model numbers using the same material construction |
Product Construction
ChefStead cookware is constructed with:
-
A pure titanium cooking surface
-
A stainless steel structural body
-
A stainless steel handle
-
A stainless steel lid
ChefStead cookware does not rely on a conventional chemical nonstick coating. Its food-release performance is supported by the physical structure of approximately 100,000 precision micro-dimples formed on the titanium cooking surface.
This statement describes the construction of the product and should not be interpreted as a claim that the product is free of every chemical or chemical class included on a California designated list.
AB 1200 Chemical Disclosure
The following chemicals are intentionally present as functional constituents of the stainless steel used in covered ChefStead cookware components.

Understanding This Disclosure
AB 1200 requires disclosure based on whether a listed chemical is intentionally added for a functional or technical purpose. It does not establish that the cookware presents a health risk, nor does the presence of a listed chemical necessarily mean that a consumer will be exposed to it during normal use.
The disclosed metals are constituents of stainless steel selected for structural strength, corrosion resistance, durability, and long-term cooking performance.
Additional Product Information
ChefStead cookware is not a completely nonstick pan and does not use a conventional chemical nonstick coating.
The pure titanium cooking surface contains approximately 100,000 precision micro-dimples. This physical texture reduces the direct contact area between food and the pan and can help retain small amounts of cooking oil, natural food fats, or steam.
For best results, preheat the pan over low to medium heat and add a small amount of cooking oil before frying or searing.
Updates to This Disclosure
