At ChefStead, innovation is not about adding more features, inventing unfamiliar terminology, or making a product look more complicated than it needs to be.
It begins with a real problem.
Traditional coated cookware can offer excellent food release when new, but its performance depends on a surface layer that may gradually scratch, wear, or deteriorate with use.
Uncoated metal cookware is durable, but food can be more difficult to release without careful temperature control and cooking technique.
We asked a different question:
Could we preserve the lasting integrity of an uncoated metal surface while making everyday cooking easier?
That question led us to pure titanium—and then to approximately 100,000 precision micro-dimples.
Rethinking the Surface That Touches Your Food
The cooking surface is where cookware and food meet. We believe it deserves more attention than any decorative finish or short-lived feature.
ChefStead uses a pure titanium cooking surface rather than a conventional chemical nonstick coating.
Its performance does not depend on applying a temporary nonstick layer over the pan. The titanium itself is the cooking surface.
This distinction matters.
Ordinary scratches or surface marks may develop through normal use, but there is no conventional chemical nonstick coating intended to provide the pan’s core cooking performance.
The result is cookware designed around the integrity of the underlying material—not the expected lifespan of a coating.
Approximately 100,000 Precision Micro-Dimples
Titanium offered the material foundation we wanted, but a smooth titanium surface did not fully solve the practical challenge of food sticking.
So we changed the physical geometry of the cooking surface.
ChefStead’s titanium surface contains approximately 100,000 precision micro-dimples distributed across the cooking area.
These microscopic structures serve two important purposes.
Less Direct Contact
On a conventional smooth surface, a larger portion of the food can rest directly against the pan.
ChefStead’s micro-texture reduces the area of complete, continuous contact between the food and the cooking surface. Reducing that direct contact can help food release more easily during cooking.
Better Distribution of Oil, Natural Fats, and Steam
The micro-dimples can retain small amounts of cooking oil, natural food fats, or steam within the textured surface.
These tiny pockets can help create localized separation between portions of the food and the pan, further reducing the tendency to stick.
The result is a physical approach to food release—created through surface structure rather than a conventional chemical nonstick coating.
Reduced Sticking, Honestly Explained
ChefStead is not completely nonstick.
Our micro-textured titanium surface is designed to reduce sticking by approximately 30–50% compared with a conventional smooth titanium cooking surface. It reduces sticking; it does not eliminate it.

For frying and searing, we recommend preheating the pan over low to medium heat and adding a small amount of cooking oil.

This construction allows ChefStead to focus titanium where it matters most—the surface touching the food—while using stainless steel to support the structural demands of everyday cookware.

3. Engineer the Structure
We refine surface geometry, construction, balance, dimensions, assembly, and manufacturability.
4. Build and Test Prototypes
Physical samples help us evaluate how a product feels, heats, handles, cleans, and performs in real cooking conditions.
5. Challenge the Claims
We examine whether product statements accurately reflect the evidence and practical customer experience.
6. Control Production
Approved materials, specifications, samples, and inspection requirements help ensure that the manufactured product remains consistent with the intended design.
7. Learn From Customers
Cooking questions, reviews, returns, warranty claims, and repeated support issues are returned to the product and engineering teams.
Innovation does not end when a product ships.
