ChefStead cookware is designed for long-term performance. With proper cleaning and care, its pure titanium cooking surface and precision-engineered micro-dimples can remain dependable for years of everyday meals.

Unlike a conventional chemical nonstick coating, the titanium cooking surface will not peel away through normal use. However, cooking oil, food residue, mineral deposits, and excessive heat can gradually build up on the surface and affect food release.

Regular, thorough cleaning helps preserve the pan’s appearance and cooking performance.


Before First Use

Before using your ChefStead cookware for the first time:

  • Remove all packaging, labels, and protective materials.
  • Wash the pan and stainless steel lid with warm water and mild dish soap.
  • Use a soft sponge or non-abrasive cleaning pad.
  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Dry completely with a soft cloth.

The cookware does not require chemical seasoning before use. However, adding a thin layer of cooking oil before frying can improve food release.


Everyday Cleaning

For the best results, clean the cookware after every use.

Step 1: Allow the Pan to Cool

Let the cookware cool naturally before washing.

Do not place a very hot pan directly into cold water. Sudden temperature changes may cause thermal shock and could affect the shape or performance of the cookware.

Step 2: Wash with Warm, Soapy Water

Use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge or non-abrasive cleaning pad.

Pay particular attention to the cooking surface. Oil and food particles may collect inside the precision micro-dimples and should be removed thoroughly.

Step 3: Rinse and Dry

Rinse away all soap and residue, then dry the cookware promptly with a soft towel.

Drying immediately helps prevent water spots and mineral marks, especially in areas with hard water.


Cleaning the Micro-Dimpled Titanium Surface

The ChefStead cooking surface contains approximately 100,000 precision micro-dimples. These physically reduce the direct contact area between food and the pan and help retain small amounts of oil, rendered fat, or steam during cooking.

Over time, oil or food residue may accumulate inside these micro-dimples. If the surface is not cleaned thoroughly, this buildup can make food more likely to stick.

For routine cleaning:

  • Use warm water and mild dish soap.
  • Clean with a soft sponge or non-abrasive nylon brush.
  • Move the sponge or brush in several directions to reach the micro-dimpled surface.
  • Rinse carefully to make sure no soap or loosened residue remains.
  • Dry the pan completely after washing.

If the surface begins to feel sticky, greasy, or uneven after cleaning, use the deep-cleaning method below.


Deep Cleaning

A deeper cleaning may be helpful when you notice:

  • Increased sticking
  • A sticky or oily surface
  • Darkened oil residue
  • Food trapped in the micro-dimples
  • Brown or black cooking marks
  • Odors that remain after normal washing

Baking Soda Method

  1. Add enough warm water to cover the affected area.
  2. Add approximately 1–2 tablespoons of baking soda.
  3. Allow the solution to soak for 15–30 minutes.
  4. For stubborn residue, gently simmer the solution for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and allow the pan to cool.
  6. Clean with a soft sponge or non-abrasive nylon brush.
  7. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.

Repeat if necessary. Do not aggressively scrape the surface with sharp or highly abrasive tools.


Cleaning Burned Food

If food has burned onto the cooking surface, do not attempt to remove it immediately while the pan is hot.

Instead:

  1. Allow the pan to cool.
  2. Add warm water and a small amount of dish soap.
  3. Let it soak for 20–30 minutes.
  4. Loosen the residue with a wooden, silicone, or nylon utensil.
  5. If residue remains, use the baking soda deep-cleaning method.
  6. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

For severe burned-on residue, more than one cleaning cycle may be required. Gentle, repeated cleaning is safer than forceful scraping.


Removing Burned Oil and Brown Residue

Oil can polymerize when repeatedly exposed to high temperatures. This may create a brown, amber, or dark layer that ordinary dish soap cannot fully remove.

To clean it:

  1. Cover the affected surface with warm water.
  2. Add 1–2 tablespoons of baking soda.
  3. Simmer gently for 5–10 minutes.
  4. Allow the pan to cool.
  5. Clean with a non-abrasive sponge or nylon brush.
  6. Repeat if needed.

Persistent oil buildup may reduce food release even though the titanium surface itself is not damaged. Thorough cleaning usually restores performance.

Avoid overheating an empty pan or allowing a thin layer of oil to burn for an extended period.


Rainbow Discoloration

Blue, gold, purple, or rainbow-colored marks may occasionally appear on stainless steel after exposure to heat.

This is generally a surface discoloration caused by heat oxidation. It does not normally indicate that the cookware is damaged or unsafe to use.

To reduce the discoloration:

  1. Allow the cookware to cool.
  2. Apply a small amount of diluted white vinegar to a soft cloth or sponge.
  3. Gently wipe the affected area.
  4. Wash again with mild dish soap.
  5. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

The appearance may fade with cleaning, although some heat-related color variation can remain. This does not normally affect cooking performance.


White Spots and Mineral Deposits

White or cloudy marks are usually caused by minerals in water, particularly in hard-water areas.

To remove them:

  1. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water.
  2. Apply the solution to the affected area.
  3. Let it sit for several minutes.
  4. Wipe gently with a soft sponge.
  5. Wash with dish soap, rinse, and dry.

Drying the cookware promptly after washing can help prevent mineral deposits.


Cleaning the Exterior

The stainless steel exterior may develop grease marks, water spots, or discoloration through normal use.

For routine cleaning:

  • Wash with warm water and mild dish soap.
  • Use a soft sponge or non-abrasive pad.
  • Wipe in the direction of the stainless steel finish when possible.
  • Rinse and dry immediately.

For stubborn exterior residue, use a baking soda and water paste. Apply it gently, clean the surface without excessive pressure, and rinse thoroughly.

Any specialized stainless steel cleaner should be tested on a small, inconspicuous area first and used according to its manufacturer’s instructions.


Cleaning the Stainless Steel Lid

The ChefStead lid is made from stainless steel and should be cleaned after each use.

  • Allow the lid to cool before washing.
  • Use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge.
  • Clean around the rim and handle where oil or food residue may collect.
  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Dry immediately to reduce water spots.

Use caution after cooking. The lid, handle, and escaping steam may remain hot even after the pan has been removed from the heat.


Dishwasher Use

Designed for everyday convenience, our cookware is dishwasher safe.

For the best long-term appearance, we recommend hand washing when practical. While dishwasher use is safe, repeated exposure to high temperatures, strong detergents, and mineral-heavy water may gradually cause water spots or dull the finish.

Hand washing also helps ensure thorough cleaning of oil and food residue from the micro-dimpled cooking surface.

Dishwasher safe. Hand washing recommended for best care.


What Not to Use

To help preserve the appearance and finish of your cookware, avoid using:

  • Steel wool
  • Metal scouring pads
  • Sharp or abrasive scrapers
  • Highly abrasive powders or cleaners
  • Oven cleaner
  • Chlorine bleach
  • Strong alkaline or caustic cleaners
  • Prolonged soaking in acidic or harsh chemical cleaning solutions

Also avoid:

  • Rapidly cooling a hot pan under cold water
  • Striking or dropping the cookware against hard surfaces

Metal utensils are safe to use, but they may leave superficial marks on titanium surfaces over time. These marks are purely cosmetic and will not affect cooking performance.

Using silicone, wooden, or heat-resistant nylon utensils is recommended to preserve your cookware's pristine look.


If Food Starts Sticking More Than Before

ChefStead is not a completely nonstick pan. Some sticking is normal, particularly when cooking delicate foods without sufficient oil or when temperature is not properly controlled.

If sticking noticeably increases, check the following:

The Pan May Need a Deep Cleaning

A thin layer of oil or food residue may be covering the micro-dimpled surface. Use the baking soda deep-cleaning method.

The Pan May Be Too Hot

Excessive heat can cause oil and food proteins to burn and bond to the cooking surface. Use low-to-medium heat for most cooking.

The Pan May Not Be Properly Preheated

Preheat gradually before adding oil and food. A pan that is too cold or heated too quickly may produce inconsistent results.

There May Not Be Enough Oil

The micro-dimpled titanium surface reduces sticking but does not eliminate it. Use a small amount of cooking oil when frying eggs, fish, meat, or other delicate foods.

The Food May Be Moved Too Early

Many foods naturally release more easily after the surface has properly browned. Allow the food to cook before attempting to turn it.


Recommended Cooking Routine

For easier food release:

  1. Begin with a clean, dry pan.
  2. Preheat gradually over low-to-medium heat.
  3. Add a small amount of cooking oil.
  4. Allow the oil to spread across the cooking surface.
  5. Add the food.
  6. Give the food time to cook before turning or moving it.
  7. Reduce the heat if the oil begins to smoke.
  8. Clean the pan thoroughly after use.

High heat is rarely necessary. Because the cookware distributes and retains heat efficiently, lower heat settings may provide better control and help prevent burned oil buildup.


Cosmetic Changes Are Normal

ChefStead cookware is made to be used.

Fine utensil marks, changes in shine, water spots, heat tinting, and other cosmetic changes may naturally develop over time. These signs of normal use do not necessarily indicate a defect or affect the cookware’s performance.

The most important part of long-term care is keeping the cooking surface free from accumulated oil and food residue.


When to Stop Using the Cookware

Stop using the product and contact ChefStead if you notice:

  • Significant warping that prevents stable use
  • A loose or damaged handle
  • Cracks or separation in the cookware body
  • Sharp edges caused by accidental damage
  • Damage that may make normal use unsafe

Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the cookware yourself.

Normal discoloration, superficial scratches, cooking residue, or changes in appearance are not generally signs that the cookware is unsafe.
